Just a glimpse in the mirror

When we think about being a "Titus 2" woman, we usually think in terms of 'what we can do and say to help other women'.  But do we think about those whom we can benefit the most?  Yes we most definitely need to be examples to other women and become mentors to those younger and less experienced than we are, but if you have daughters, who better to be an example to than them!  They fit the first criteria; they are younger, and they get the privilege of seeing us each and every day to learn how to "love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home..."  You get the idea.

The sad part is (and I confess I am chiefest of sinners) they see the real us, the 24/7 real us.  What do they see?  Can we truly say that we are teaching them to be a "Titus 2" woman?  What do we see when we look into the "mirror" of our heart?  It can be a very scary place.... O how fun and glamorous it is to tell our "wisdom" to other like-minded women... but what of those in our own households?  Are we living out the Titus 2 calling in our own homes or is it just a game we play when others see us?  I'm not saying that we are going to have perfect fairy-tale lives and everything is going to run smoothly from the time we wake up at 5 a.m. (who does that anyway??) till the time we go to bed at night.  Only our King, Jesus Christ, is perfect.  Each and every day we are to "put on" Christ.... how many days do we forget?  Or get too busy?

Let us purpose in our hearts that we are going to place our focus on Christ, that we are going to glorify God in all that we do, and that we are going to be the "Titus 2" examples to our own children.  Then it will be only natural for us to be a blessing to those around us because then, it will be genuine, coming from a heart that wants to please God first!  And before I close this post, I want you to take a moment and head over to Generation Cedar.  Kelly wrote an excellent letter to her children about marriage that we would all do well to have our own children read also.
