A Heart Issue

"The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts." - Proverbs 17:3

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" - Jeremiah 17:9

Our heart.  Several words pop into our minds when we hear the word:  blood pumper, love simulator, secret keeper... the place that only you and God know about, right?  What DO we have hidden in the secret chambers of our hearts?  Is it love?  Or is it Hate?  What about bitterness or jealousy?  Or maybe some secret sin that you think will never be found out?  Jesus said, "for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." -Matthew 12:34  What is in our hearts will eventually come to the surface, it will be made known.  You may think it can be hidden there and not cause any problems, but it does... eventually.  We must confess our sin or it will fester and grow, and then it will most definitely be known.  We must fill our hearts with good things, fill it with the Word of God.  Ask Him to fill our hearts with His love.  The Psalmist said in Psalm 51:10,  "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me."  May that be our prayer each and every day.  It doesn't take very long before our hearts become heavy with sin.  We need to be renewed each and every day by the Word of God and through prayer.  What is in your heart today?

"Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." - Psalm 139:23-24

"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." - Proverbs 4:23
